Hijo del Santo Not Allowing His Son To Use The Family Name

Hijo & Nieto

Nieto del Santo (Tempestad) and his father Hijo del Santo

After Hijo del Santo accompanied  his son Nieto del Santo to Japan, where he’ll be working for Pro-Wrestling NOAH, he returned with news. Nieto will not be using the family name; he will wrestle under the name Tempestad, as well as wearing a black version of the famous Santo mask. Hijo del Santo believes his 16 year old son isn’t ready to carry the responsibility of the Santo name just yet. NOAH wasn’t too thrilled about the decision but they understand.

Nieto del Santo also won’t be making his debut in Mexico anytime soon, as he will be venturing to New Zealand after his time in Japan is over.

Former WWE Wrestler, Super Crazy, Wont Sign With CMLL or AAA

Super Crazy is best known for his work in World Wrestling Entertainment. However he’s had success all around the world, working for companies such as CMLL, AAA, NOAH, and many more.

World famous luchador, Super Crazy, was honored by the local government of Hidalgo for his success internationally. He says that he’s had a great career but he still has lots of years left in him. Also he loves working independently because it allows him to work wherever and for whoever he wants to.

Super Crazy has received several offers from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre and Asistencia Asesoría y Administración but has turned both companies down because being tied to a contract would severely limit his ability to work outside of Mexico. He doesn’t particularly enjoy leaving Mexico but he has to do what’s financially right for himself. Crazy also states that he’s been working on his English so he can work more regularly in the United States to go along with his steady work in Japan for companies such as Pro-Wrestling NOAH.

I wouldn’t expect to see Super Crazy in CMLL, AAA, or any major promotion around the world, on a permanent bases.

5 former Pro-Wrestling NOAH talents, Jun Akiyama, Go Shiozaki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Kotaro Suzuki and Atsushi Aoki, announced their return to pro wrestling to compete for All Japan Pro-Wrestling. The former NOAH wrestlers will be going forward under the team name, BURNING, which was appropriated honored to them by Kobashi. They’ve come to take charge of AJPW. All 5 of the men appeared during the January 26th show and announced that they will be competing for the promotion in February and possibly longer. All of them shook hands with AJPW’s President, Masayuki Uchida. This will be an interesting shake up for All Japan Pro-Wrestling; It’ll be very interesting to see how Pro-Wrestling NOAH continues to cope with the now permanent loss of these talents.

Kobashi Retirement Date Set for Final Burning on May 11

Kenta Kobashi held a special press conference at the Pro Wrestling NOAH office. The topic of the meeting was his long talked about retirement match which will be held on May 11th at Budokan Hall. The show is titled Final Burning will be a joint production between Kobashi and NOAH. That is not a un-common situation as Dragon Gate has had shows with Masaaki Mochizuki’s Byuden shows, Stalker Bom Ba Ye and the unit affiliated shows with  Muscle Outlaws, Warriors, World-1 and Blood Warriors shows as well as other promotions doing this with their talent. which was brought up a in December when Kobashi’s contract was not renewed causing Atsushi Aoki, Go Shiozaki, Jun Akiyama, Kotaro Suzuki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru to all leave NOAH.

Before the press conference, there were talks of a show in February. The issue is that Kobashi needs a few more months to prepare for the match. Kobashi will need three more months to prepare for the match so it will be in May. There is no other wrestlers for the show even Kobashi’s opponent confirmed for the show other than Kobashi.
